Years ago I started doing business as an accounting software consultant, and would build small database modules with FileMaker software to do that one thing that the accounting system didn’t do to meet my clients’ special needs. It’s hard to imagine that when I started Compu-Books back in 1990, most businesses were still using paper ledgers as their accounting system! Computers were just coming on the scene. It reminds me of the 50′s when TV was the latest technology and not everyone had one. It’s been an exciting ride to help so many clients automate their businesses with the help of computers and software.

Fast forward 20 years, and things have changed. Being in the business of technology requires staying in the fast track! Software and computers become obsolete almost over night. My company grew to a team of 4, and my focus has changed as these technologies have emerged and accounting software has become more common. Seeing a bigger need for custom software solutions, the primary service we offer now is building front end mission-critical database systems that work with back-end accounting software.

The internet and being ‘mobile’ is now the latest trend in technology, and Compu-Books is once again working hard to stay on the cutting edge. Many of our clients need an internet presence complete with shopping carts or online searchable databases to stay competitive. We also see a growing popularity of the iPad, iPhone and iPods in business, so it’s our goal to begin providing apps to go with you and keep you connected to the office.
